Chapter 3711 Sentinel
Chapter 3711 Sentinel
Ronron counted the stars she had received. A full 129 of them. That meant she had completed her task in 6 minutes and 15 seconds.Satisfied, she walked back. She had done the best she could, so she would have to have done really well. Since Helen never really trained to fight and Liz wasn't really that interested in fighting either, their attack skills were definitely not that great.
So, it was very likely that she would win.
"Well done," a voice called out.
Ronron looked up and found Jin Yuelan sitting on a protruding rock, with a few people surrounding him. Ronron blinked for a moment before bowing slightly. "Thank you."
"You are the person I talked to outside of the realm, right?" he asked. "The one with the grandmother?"
"Yes," Ronron answered truthfully.
"Those were some nice skills you showed down there," he said. "Do you belong to any sect or family?"
"No," Ronron answered.
Even though she was lying, it was also technically the truth as well. Although, the man would never realize that given how plain her attire looked at the moment, and she hadn't shown any artifacts at all.
"You have incredible talent," the man said. "My Jin family is always on the lookout for any talented individuals it can get. If you want me to put in a good word on your behalf, I can do that."
Ronron shook her head. "That won't be necessary."
Jin Yuelan shook his head. "Don't refuse so easily. Think about my proposal. In an ocean of rocks, you may consider yourself a diamond. But that diamond will never hold any value if someone doesn't find it first and give it worth."
Ronron's eyes narrowed. She was about to say something when someone else spoke up.
"Are you saying she's worthless if she doesn't do what you're telling her to?"
Ronron turned around to see Liz walking up to her.
"That's not— that's a blatant misinterpretation of my words," the man said.
"Then what does it mean?" Liz asked.
"Just that sometimes a person requires help to become great," Jin Yuelan said. "Since she doesn't belong to any sect, I was offering her a chance to join my family. We take in talented people all the time."
"Is that so?" Liz asked, showing an obvious look of doubt.
"I mean it," the man said sincerely. "Speaking of which, if you wish to join my family, then we can acc—"
An arm wrapped around his shoulder out of nowhere, a voice speaking next to him not a second later.
"Is there a problem?" Alex asked.
The man slowly turned, his face suddenly pale. He looked at Alex, and then at the hand he had wrapped around him.
Alex stood right next to him now and had arrived here somehow, and yet… he hadn't noticed him in the slightest. It wasn't until Alex had his arm around him that he had even noticed his presence.
The man tried to move away and free himself from Alex, but Alex's arm stayed wrapped around him, making him unable to go.
"I asked, is there a problem?"
"That's alright, Father," Ronron quickly said. "We were just having a conversation."
"Oh, my bad then."
Alex finally moved his arm away and walked around the man so he could stand next to Liz and Ronron. He looked at the man, smiling now.
"Please, continue the conversation."
The man slowly touched his shoulder, taking a deep breath in the process. "I… I think we're good here. My… my apologies," he hurriedly said. "I didn't realize you had come in with a Sentinel."
He turned toward Alex. "I will take my leave, Senior."
The man turned and flew away immediately, with his female fanatics following behind him, leaving strange looks behind.
Alex held an equally strange look as well. He turned toward Ronron.
"What's a Sentinel?" he asked.
Ronron shrugged. "First time I'm hearing of it."
Alex turned toward the fleeing young man and wondered if he should stop him to ask what it meant. But he let it be. Instead, he turned toward Liz.
"Congratulations," he said. "Although, I should have put an additional restriction on you as well."
Liz grinned. "Haha, I knew the moment we made the bet that I had won."
Ronron turned around, confused. "What do you mean? Are you done?"
Liz nodded. "I got 325 stars," she said with the widest grin.
"What?" Ronron asked, her mind racing to calculate what that number meant. "You completed it in just 2 minutes and 33 seconds?"
Liz nodded. "I could have done so much faster, but I didn't want to pull that far ahead of the competition," she said with a light chortle.
Ronron didn't know what to say at all. The fact that Liz had gotten as many stars as she had was proof that she had used her Time Dao to her advantage.
"We were stupid," Ronron said. "The bet should have never revolved around time. That, or we really should have put a restriction on your time usage."
Liz shrugged. "Hey, at least you can contend with your grandmother. She should be done soon, so it will be close between you two."
Ronron turned to look toward one of the pits, where Helen had already started attacking the puppet. She used a single attack, which was the Heavenly Ice Spear. She formed ice spears around her body constantly, throwing them at the puppet like an unending barrage.
Dozens of spears formed around her body at every moment, striking the puppet repeatedly for many minutes before it finally stopped when the puppet fell. When it did, Helen received her reward of 68 stars.
Helen let out a deep breath and walked out of the pit, meeting up with the group.
"How did you all do?" she asked.
"Don't bother asking her. She cheated with her time powers," Ronron said. "What about you, Grandma?"
"68 stars," Helen said. "That should mean I finished the battle in… 6 minutes and 28 seconds."
Ronron let out a sigh of relief. "That's a far more acceptable duration," she said. "But that also means, between the two of us, I win."
