Chapter 46 Fike Island
Chapter 46 Fike Island
Hearing Li Wei say this, the guards smiled. Although the guards were paid by the government, they also had families to support.
Li Wei, on the other hand, didn't care; problems that could be solved with money were not problems at all for him.
In the post-apocalyptic world, nobody picks up things like gold and silver jewelry. Jewelry shops are everywhere, so Li Wei just collected a few things, keeping the nicer ones to give away.
He even made a special trip to a gold shop to collect some small gold bars, since gold and silver are used as currency in many parts of the world.
As for banks, they generally don't have gold bars; they only have a lot of paper money.
"Ah, look at my head, I'm sure you have a lot to say to the Baron. I'll arrange a ship to take you to Fick Island right away."
Thanks.
Stepping onto the wooden bridge, you'll find yourself in a small fishing village built on the lakeside. The ground is all muddy, and the village roads are separated by wooden stakes and planks, creaking underfoot.
The small fishing village had only eight houses, with the floors of the houses covered with bedding. The damp, musty smell and fishy stench filled the air, but Li Wei thought it was much better than the pervasive stench of blood and rotting corpses.
Especially when arranging for people to burn the corpses, the ashes fly everywhere, and the smell is just perfect.
The guard, seeing Li Wei observing inside the house through the window, explained as he led the way.
"Crow's Nest is now occupied by a gang of bandits, and many people have fled with the Baron. With so many mouths to feed, the Baron is having a headache, and the local residents are also very unhappy about it."
It would be strange if no one complained. A bunch of outsiders have crammed the house in. The fishing village doesn't produce much to begin with, and now they're coming to steal our food. Any normal person would be annoyed. Should we welcome these troublemakers with open arms, thinking they're saints?
The guards called over a fishing boat that was casting its nets, picked up Li Wei, and took him to an island in the lake.
The island wasn't particularly large or small, about a few miles long and a little over a mile wide. There was a village there, but now it was filled with tents. When Li Wei passed by, he saw that there were quite a few fish hanging inside, but the people inside were still emaciated and pale.
The baron's residence was a small, round tower surrounded by wooden stakes, about two miles in size, but the ground was covered with puddles and was extremely damp.
However, the gate was closed, and there were more than a dozen farmers kneeling outside begging for food.
The door opened only after Li Wei called for help.
"It's Consultant Li! Open the door."
Several guards came out with long guns and pointed them at the farmers begging for food.
He shouted to Li Wei.
"Advisor, come in quickly."
Li Wei pointed to the farmers and asked.
"What's wrong with these guys? Even if eating only fish would lead to malnutrition, they shouldn't be acting like they're dying."
The guard waved his hand, annoyed.
"Never mind those lazybones, they're all just looking to get something for nothing. After the young lady took pity on them and gave them a few bags of grain, these guys have been coming every day."
They could have just gone fishing, or even angling if that wasn't possible, but these guys are just kneeling here.
Farmers immediately retorted.
"It's not that we're lazy, it's that there are water ghosts in the lake, and several people have already been dragged down."
The guard grew even more impatient and retorted.
"That all happened last month. No one has been attacked by water ghosts since then. We've been patrolling and exterminating them. In the end, it's just that you guys are lazy. Get lost!"
Seeing that he had been refuted, he immediately changed his tune.
"Just eating fish isn't enough. The child keeps crying from hunger at night, and we adults are also suffering from hunger. Please have mercy."
"Ha, you're a notorious street thug, where did you come from, kid? Get lost! This is the last time, or you'll be getting whipped."
"Other people's children cry too."
"You wait! I'm coming out right now to beat you up!"
If the guards were to get serious, these troublemakers would scatter faster than rabbits.
Li Wei tilted his head and asked the guard.
"Do you want me to help you solve these problems?"
Li Wei couldn't solve the problem of troublemakers, but dealing with troublemakers was still very simple.
Stop spouting nonsense. Li Wei is already planning to live a wonderful life, so why is he still so resentful?
Rules are meant to be broken... of course, other people's rules.
"How can we solve this? Unless you conjure up a whole bunch of food right now."
Li Wei really could conjure up a lot of food. He had collected quite a bit when he was in the town to feed people, but after Li Wei ran away, it became useless. Only Goto Elementary School needed to be fed, and she could eat it all in her lifetime.
But Li Wei wasn't going to take it out; instead, he said menacingly.
"Killing the entire families of those troublemakers will save dozens of mouths, deter those unruly people, and solve all the problems."
The guard glanced at Li Wei, who had followed him in, with a look of horror, and asked curiously.
"Forget it, your crime doesn't warrant death. Advisor, what happened to you during those two years you were missing? How could you be so bloodthirsty?"
Li Wei observed the area inside the walled compound: a few wooden houses, a simple stable with only a few horses, and just a few guards at the entrance; it was quite spacious.
"Well, all sorts of things, mostly a mess."
He paused for a moment after speaking.
"Where are the others? Why are there so few? Where's the captain?"
The guard sighed and replied somewhat dejectedly.
"Our situation is also a mess. Our captain is dead, and many people died when the bandits attacked us. If it weren't for physical training, probably half of us wouldn't have survived. There were too many of them, more than twice the number of us."
"The captain who liked to take himself to the bath like a bird is dead," Li Wei sighed and replied.
"Once I see the Baron, I'll avenge the captain."
The Bloody Baron, that cuckolded fat man, saved Ciri. What does that have to do with Levi? Ciri isn't anyone to Levi anyway.
As for that arrogant bandit captain in the game, if it weren't for the fact that he couldn't be killed in the game, Li Wei would have killed him hundreds of times already. He's just a bunch of defeated bandits; consider it an act of eliminating a scourge for the people.
As if fearing that Li Wei would suggest to the Baron that he lead his men to reclaim the crow's nest, the guards immediately advised against it.
"They have at least a hundred or so people, while we only have less than fifty. We still need to patrol and guard the village. Don't act rashly."
Li Wei glanced at the guard who had already cowered and replied.
"I don't need you to go. I have people, a mercenary group."
Actually, there's no need to call for reinforcements; they can handle it themselves. The humanoid half-hanger bullies some ordinary guards, easily taking them down.
If all else fails, just pull out an automatic rifle and block the doorway to teach them a lesson. If they dare to show their heads, just fire a burst. There are many ways to take back a nest from a bunch of ordinary people. Li Wei has plenty of tricks up his sleeve.
When Li Wei pushed open the door and entered the tower, the Baron's family was warming themselves by the fireplace.
As soon as Annabelle recognized Li Wei, she immediately came to greet him.
"Oh, my knight, I thought you were dead."
Li Wei immediately took a step back to indicate distance and quickly said.
"I heard you were in trouble, so I came right away. I found out the general situation on the way. Leave the rest to me. I'll have someone let you know once I've resolved it."
After saying that, he took out a small bag of gold bars, stuffed it into Annabelle's hand, and turned and ran away.
The situation here is alright, things won't get chaotic for now, and this woman's eyes are practically drooling, why wouldn't she run away?
Levi was already overwhelmed by Goto, and he didn't want to invite another problem.
