Chapter 12 Shark Attack
Chapter 12 Shark Attack
However, by midnight, Chen Yang felt his eyelids were about to give way.
Nothing happened.
"Does this infinite game give players a buffer period? Well, considering what happened yesterday, I bet at least 90% of the players were eliminated."
As Chen Yang thought this, he gradually drifted into a dream.
[You slept soundly all night, your body got plenty of rest, temporary constitution -5, duration 12 hours.]
"Wake up! Wake up! Please wake up!"
Chen Yang felt someone shaking his shoulders violently, with great force.
He suddenly opened his eyes amidst the violent shaking, his gaze devoid of any drowsiness from just waking up, instead revealing a murderous aura honed in northern Myanmar.
"Are you trying to call back the soul? What happened?" Chen Yang shoved Zhang Xiaolan aside, his voice filled with impatience.
Zhang Xiaolan stumbled from the push, ignoring her grievances, her face pale as she pointed to the water outside the raft, her voice trembling: "You...look for yourself, it's all that stuff outside!"
Chen Yang frowned, turned over and stood up, and quickly walked to the edge of the raft.
On the once still water, dozens of triangular, jet-black dorsal fins were seen cutting through the waves like blades, swimming rapidly around their raft.
The sound of water splashing was particularly jarring in the quiet night.
Chen Yang squinted and counted; there were at least thirty or so.
"It's a shark."
Chen Yang said expressionlessly.
"What should I do? I tried to shoo them away, but the stick I extended was bitten to pieces."
Zhang Xiaolan held up the broken wooden stick, the cut was jagged, and wood chips were still falling off.
Chen Yang ignored her and glanced down at the floor. A thin rope with a simple hook lay forlornly to one side.
"You were fishing just now?" Chen Yang immediately realized.
"Hmm... I saw someone online say that you can catch fish with snacks, so I wanted to try it."
Zhang Xiaolan's voice grew softer and softer, and her eyes showed some unease.
She clearly felt that these sharks were a result of her own actions.
But Chen Yang knew in his heart that even without this fishing line, these beasts were still part of the next round of testing arranged by the system.
Before he could even speak, the ship beneath his feet suddenly shook violently!
A tremendous impact came from underwater, and Zhang Xiaolan screamed as she crashed onto the deck.
With his 15 points in reaction attribute, Chen Yang's legs were firmly nailed to the raft, and his body remained completely still.
"What's going on? Are they colliding?" Zhang Xiaolan didn't even bother to get up, and hurriedly moved to the edge to look into the water.
Chen Yang didn't explain, but simply drew the dagger from his waist.
Sitting idly by and waiting to die has never been his style. He figured he'd die anyway if the ship wrecked, so he might as well strike first.
He strode to the side of the boat, his eyes turning cold as he locked onto the nearest dorsal fin.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Zhang Xiaolan exclaimed in surprise.
Chen Yang ignored her completely and plunged straight into the sea teeming with sharks.
"Hey! Are you crazy? Are you out of your mind?!"
Zhang Xiaolan rushed to the water's edge like a madwoman; in her eyes, it was no different from suicide.
As water splashed up, the instant Chen Yang entered the water, the fruit knife in his hand precisely pierced the head of a shark.
The terrifying power of 39 points erupted at that moment, and the knife tip pierced the fish bone as easily as cutting tofu.
The startled shark thrashed its tail wildly, trying to shake off the man on its back. Chen Yang's eyes were cold as he drew his knife and stabbed the shark's eye with deadly force!
Just then, another shark burst out of the water, its gaping maw clamping down on Chen Yang's side.
You have suffered severe physical damage; Constitution +4.
Compared to the impact of crashing into the building, the bites from these sharks were at most a "heavy massage" for him.
Chen Yang was dragged underwater by the shark, but he remained calm. Before the shark could loosen its grip, he gripped his dagger and began frantically stabbing at the shark's gills.
The first shark whose head had been pierced was already belly-up, completely dead.
You have suffered severe physical damage; Constitution +9.
Feeling the biting force on his side intensifying wildly, the shark was trying to tear Chen Yang apart before it died.
The excruciating pain surged forth like a tidal wave, but Chen Yang didn't even flinch.
He had endured far more horrific tortures in the industrial park in northern Myanmar, and this pain was still within his tolerance.
Three or four seconds later, the third shark, attracted by the smell of blood, arrived and bit Chen Yang's thigh.
You have suffered severe physical damage; Constitution +1.
Chen Yang sneered underwater, the dagger in his hand flashing coldly as he stabbed the newcomer.
The second shark was now barely breathing. Chen Yang grabbed its lower jaw with one hand and snapped it open with a loud crack as the bones broke.
The shark stopped moving completely. A moment later, its eyes rolled back and it drifted toward the surface.
However, the remaining sharks were not deterred by the smell of blood; instead, they went completely berserk.
They circled around Chen Yang at high speed, stirring the water like a giant washing machine.
These beasts would launch sneak attacks from time to time, either ramming into Chen Yang's ribs like cannonballs or opening their bloody mouths to bite his shoulder.
If it were an ordinary player, they would have been a pile of minced meat by now.
But Chen Yang's physique of over 180 points came into play. His muscle density was astonishingly high, and when the shark's saw-like teeth bit into him, it felt like gnawing on a piece of old cowhide.
The system notification sounds in my ear never stopped:
You have suffered severe physical damage; Constitution +3.
You have suffered severe physical damage; Constitution +5.
Unbeknownst to him, his physique was pushed to 188 points by the frenzied biting, and even his strength increased by 5 points due to the impact.
But these beasts seemed to realize that this human was not to be trifled with, and they began to change their tactics.
Instead of tearing at him, they joined forces to bite Chen Yang's clothes and limbs, desperately pulling him into the dark, deep water.
That beast wanted to drown him!
[You are suffocating. Constitution +1]
As the air in my chest cavity dwindled, a burning, stinging pain began to emanate from my lungs.
Although the system indicated that his physique was still slightly improving, the oppressive feeling of being on the verge of death made Chen Yang feel terrible.
He had no choice but to open his bloodshot eyes in the deep water, grit his teeth, and swing his dagger, stabbing the approaching sharks one by one.
At this moment, on the water surface.
The question now is whether he will suffocate to death first, or whether all the sharks will be stabbed to death first.
Zhang Xiaolan slumped on the swaying raft, looking as if she had lost her soul.
As far as the eye could see, the seawater was stained red. A dozen or so huge shark carcasses floated all around, their broken fins and entrails bobbing up and down with the waves.
This scene was more absurd than a nightmare for her.
She stared intently at the swirling vortex of blood. Chen Yang had been submerged for a long time, and his fate remained unknown.
Even if Chen Yang doesn't come back, the scene before her eyes will be enough to shock her for a lifetime: a man, with just a fruit knife, slaughtered more than a dozen great white sharks in the sea.
