Chapter 50 Sister
Chapter 50 Sister
After leaving the backyard of the Fugen Tavern, Caitlyn was initially walking in front, but Jinx, who was more familiar with the roads of Zaun, quickly caught up.
She silently gestured for Caitlin to follow her, and together they walked toward the Bridge of Progress.
Just as Caitlyn said, what they need to do now is to hurry to Piltover, find Lady Giramann, and put an end to the destruction of Stillwater Prison.
Caitlin and the others acted legally and in accordance with the law, but while in Stillwater Prison, they encountered criminals, which led the three of them to witness the disaster.
In this terrible disaster, the three were simply innocent victims.
"Kate, even if those Piltover folks believe us, do you think this matter can just end there?"
Jinx tilted her head and couldn't help but ask a question.
"I've heard Aaron say this many times. He always says that the systemic discrimination against Zaunites by Piltover people is based on economic and distribution issues."
"I think even if Aunt Scarlett is willing to help, those Piltover folks will probably use it as an excuse to cause trouble and then come to Zaun... Huh?"
As Jinx was talking, she suddenly realized that no one was responding to her at all.
She turned her head and saw that Caitlin had fallen far behind her.
Zaun's winding, unlit alleyways, coupled with potholes that could appear at any moment, made it somewhat difficult for Caitlin to simply follow along.
Jinx has now climbed onto a path that leads directly to the Bridge of Progress, dragging along a drooping, tattered light strip.
Caitlyn, on the other hand, hadn't figured out Jinx's "walkthrough" and was still figuring out how to get up there.
"ha."
Jinx couldn't help but laugh.
She wasn't mocking the other person, but she felt a somewhat comical contrast between Caitlyn, who used to be a high-ranking lady from Piltover, and now having to follow her, a peasant from Zaun, through wind and rain every day.
"Alright, let the kind, compassionate, and righteous Lady Jinx take pity on you and help you out."
Those heavy emotions were somewhat overshadowed by Jinx's joking boasts.
She took a few steps back, stood on it, waved to Caitlin, and then intended to remind her that the light strip hanging down to the side was a natural climbing rope.
Regardless, Caitlin has done everything she could to protect Jinx and Aaron, even at the cost of being suspected herself.
So, as Jinx, she naturally had to ensure her good friend had a smooth time in Zaun.
You can't expect others to go to great lengths for you, only for you to be unable to do even this small thing...etc.
What just passed by?
Jinx's expression froze, and she rubbed her eyes as if she were seeing things.
She was certain she had just clearly seen a figure flash past her and Caitlin like a big black rat.
But now it's gone again.
"Could they be people sent by Hilko to protect us?"
"No, no, that's unlikely."
Jinx seemed unsure and repeatedly denied it herself.
In her haste to return to the backyard with Caitlin today, the first person she saw was Sevika, who was drinking alone.
After handing the unconscious Aaron over to Sevika and asking her to take Aaron to Singed, Sevika deliberately reminded Jinx: "Hilco is busy right now, I don't know what he's doing."
So tonight, Jinx never intended to go to Hilko, nor did she think Hilko would be of any help.
"Could it be... Urgot's lackey?!"
Jinx considered the worst-case scenario.
She instantly tensed up and, using the dim moonlight, quickly waved to Caitlin, who was climbing while pulling on the light strip.
Unlike Aaron, Jinx had not calculated all the causes and consequences of today's events within the glowing world of the Black Box system.
She simply believed that since Smits, who had massacred civilians last time, had not been dealt with, Zaun was not safe at the moment.
And that fleeting shadowy figure was very likely Smitch and his men!
"Hold my hand tight, Kate!"
"What's wrong? Why are you so nervous?"
"Quick! Get up here!"
Jinx didn't have time to explain further to Caitlin.
She knew very well that Caitlin was now dressed as a law enforcement officer and would likely become a prime target for Smith and his men.
Moreover, once the source of the danger is identified, the Hextech rifle in Caitlin's hand will be their only source of firepower!
whoosh-
Another whooshing sound cut through the air.
Jinx's tension suddenly intensified.
She had encountered a series of events that had driven her to emotional collapse, leaving her quite exhausted. She was terrified that if she wasn't careful, the shadowy figure that might be an enemy could harm Caitlin.
"Who are you? Show yourself!"
Jinx frantically pulled Caitlin up, while loudly questioning the indistinct figure.
On the dimly lit street, her vigilance was constantly heightened.
Even Caitlin, who was still unaware of the situation, was infected by her and tacitly unfolded the Hextech rifle and loaded the bullet.
"That guy didn't answer me."
Seeing that it was still quiet around them, Jinx whispered to Caitlin:
"I suspect someone is following us, most likely that squirrel-headed guy from a few days ago!"
"You're not familiar with this place, and we only have one gun. So, you'll follow my instructions now. We need to get away before they react..."
Clang!
Before Jinx could finish speaking, they heard a heavy thud behind them.
Following this was a sigh filled with complex emotions.
You could vaguely tell it was a young woman.
brush--
Without needing any prompting, Caitlin instantly turned her gun around and pointed it directly at the source of the sound!
She was starting to understand what Jinx was trying to say—
If the attack Caitlyn suffered tonight at Stillwater Prison made her realize that Piltover was rife with intrigue and that some unknown conspiracy might be lurking within.
So, Zu'an is now in grave danger because of the terrifying moment he personally experienced a few days ago.
"Whoever you are, please cooperate with law enforcement!"
"Step into the light and raise your hands!"
Caitlin took over the conversation.
She demonstrated her excellent professionalism as a law enforcement officer, using her pre-aimed gun to block all possible paths for the person making the sound to appear.
If the other party dares to show themselves, she can instantly disrupt their movements! Then she can interrogate them about their intentions, and finally...
"Don't shoot!!"
Jinx suddenly screamed.
To Caitlin's surprise, Jinx seemed to have suddenly lost her guard, and began to tremble.
Then, without any warning, Jinx charged straight towards the direction from which the sound had come—
"Where have you been?!"
"Do you know I thought I'd never find you again!"
Jinx hugged the person in the shadows tightly, pounding her fists on their chest, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
"Sister... Sister..."
